A group of North Hampshire based choirs came together in September to celebrate the music of Stage and Screen, whilst raising awareness and funds for the Hospice.
Altogether, 83 voices from the Basing Singers, Ooh Mama, Steventon Singers, as well as representatives from Hampshire Harmony, Basingstoke Male Voice Choir, The Basingstoke Choral Society and St Michael’s Church came together for a glorious evening of musical entertainment. Accompanied by the Heritage Light Orchestra, the concert celebrated a varied repertoire of music from Fiddler on the Roof, to The Greatest Showman.
A number of singers had joined the choirs because they had personal connections with the Hospice, which added poignancy to the evening. The concert was a sell-out success raising £2,282.41 for St. Michael’s Hospice. This could pay for over 114 hours of hospice nursing.
Natalie Wiltshire, Community Engagement Manager at St. Michael’s Hospice, said: ‘We can’t thank the choirs enough for their amazing support. We rely on the support of events such as this to continue to be able to raise the £5.8million needed to run the Hospice each year. The funds they have raised will make a huge difference to the services the Hospice can provide for people in North Hampshire.’
