Read our October fundraising spotlight! The spooky season was a quieter month, but our fundraisers braved a range of activities to support our Hospice! Below are just some of the amazing fundraisers that took place during October – thank you and well done to everyone who raised vital funds for our patients!

Colefax Charitable Trust and The Headley Trust

We would like to thank the Colefax Charitable Trust and The Headley Trust for providing us with generous donations towards our Hospice’s essential services. We are thankful for the kindness shown towards the St. Michael’s Hospice.

Tesco and Groundwork UK

We would like to give a huge thanks to Tesco and Groundwork UK for funding the revamp work for Hospice’s car park. Chris Griffiths, Director of Transformation at the Hospice has beautifully encapsulated the impact their funding has had on our Car Park area:

“The Hospice Revamp Car Park area project has helped us replace multiple areas of ground in and surrounding the car park with bark chipping, these have made a real difference to the aesthetics of the car park for all users. I would like to thank Tesco for supporting us to make a beautiful difference in our Car Park area.”

Great South Run

One of our colleagues and long standing volunteer, Sarah, recently took on the challenge of running the Great South Run for the Hospice. Sarah has volunteered for the Hospice for nine years, taking on many fundraising challenges, hosting an annual Netball Tournament and supporting us at our events. When asked why she took on the Great South Run Challenge, she said:

“I did it in memory of my Mum, Janina Day, who was looked after here in 2014 and then passed away at home being looked after by Hospice at Home. I then went on to loose over 10 stone and started running to help with this during lockdown when they closed all the gyms. Mum would have never ever believed it and would have been so proud at what I have achieved. I have wanted to do a “race/run” in her memory and to celebrate what I have achieved but was so nervous as normally I run by myself. I know she was with me on the day! I have volunteered here for 9 years since we lost mum and now work here – which I love. I feel very lucky and so pleased to have raised over £1000 for such a wonderful cause so close to my families heart and could not have done it without the support of them and my friends.”

Coffee Morning for St. Michael’s Hospice

Our lovely supporter, Cathryn, hosted a coffee morning at her house to raise funds for St. Michael’s Hospice. She made some delicious cakes and had lots of friends and family join her for a great morning of catching up, and they were very generous with their donations too! Not only did Cathryn do an incredible job with her coffee morning, but her daughter decided to host her own coffee morning at her office in London and her son sold some of his honey for donations to the Hospice! Thank you for all your support!

Gary Howells Memorial Golf Day

The Weybrook Park Golf Club Seniors organised a memorial golf day in memory of their fellow member, Gary Howells, who recently passed away at the Hospice. It was a fantastic day, they were incredibly lucky with the weather, held an expertly run raffle and auctioned off a 4 Ball Voucher that had kindly been donated. In total they raised £1,200 for St. Michael’s Hospice – thank you!
