Wendy Swift – Testimonial Cricket Match

On Sunday 16 July, friends and family of Chris Swift gathered for a Testimonial Cricket Match in his memory. More than 120 people came to support the cricket match, with 24 players taking part from across Sherfield on Loddon, Rotherwick and Basingstoke Cricket Clubs, all of which Chris had played at some point in his life. They hosted a BBQ, held a raffle and auction and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of friendly cricket matches, with the winning team ‘Swifty Select XI’, beating Sherfield on Loddon Cricket Club.

The day was a huge success, raising £3,924 for the Hospice! Huge thank you to Chris’s wife, Wendy, for organising and hosting the day!

Graham Cairns – Montreal Marathon

Graham had signed up to run the Montreal Marathon to raise funds for us. When asked why he’s chosen St. Michael’s Hospice to support, he said, “I am running the Montreal Marathon in memory of my dad, who recently died fighting cancer. The St. Michael’s Hospice were wonderful and dedicated to taking care of him, and making him comfortable. I running for my dad who was a true warrior, and the hero and Heroines at the Hospice.”

The Montreal marathon is on September 24 and Graham, due to his fathers Scottish heritage, he will be running the marathon in a St. Michael’s Hospice t-shirt and a kilt! If you’d like to show Graham support you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/graham-cairns-1681732067926

Memory Tree

We’re grateful for the support of Beaufort Financial, The Shanly Foundation, Four Marks and Medstead Rotary for helping us with the refurbishment of our ‘Memory Tree’ at the Hospice. The tree represents a source of emotional support for bereaved loved ones and community members. Anyone can dedicate a leaf or sunflower to a loved one to honour, remember, and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. A big thank you to our supporters for making this re-designing and refurbishment happen. Find out more about how you can make a dedication to a loved one on our Memory Tree by clicking here.
