About the role
St. Michael’s Hospice located in Basingstoke is a Registered Charity providing palliative and end of life care to the people of North Hampshire. The Hospice has inpatient beds as well as community-based care and operates as a vital part of the wider healthcare system. The provision of clinical services costs over £5.5 million per annum with less than 18% funded by the state. The remaining costs must be raised each year through charitable donations or via the Hospices’ retail outlets.
The Hospice employs in the region of 100 staff who are supported by almost 650 volunteers. Care to patients and their families is free of charge irrespective of personal circumstances.
The Hospice is regulated by the Care Quality Commission who following their most recent inspection rated the organisation as GOOD.
Several of our long-standing Trustees have finished their terms of office, and we now need to bring on board 2 new Trustees who share our passion and drive for providing outstanding end of life and palliative care. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have the following skills, attributes, or experience:
- Information Technology
Becoming a Trustee offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development and is highly rewarding. The role of a Trustee is unremunerated and there are 4 board meetings per year plus various committees.
