Below are some of the incredible fundraisers that took place during April – thank you and well done to everyone who raised vital funds for our patients and their families across North Hampshire!

Easter 50 Ultra Challenge

One of our Hospice nurses, Christina, took on the Easter 50 Ultra Challenge, which is an Ultra Challenge trek around the scenic city of Windsor, to help raise money for the Hospice. It was a tough walk, combining both on and off road walking but she made it round in an amazing time and raised a wonderful £700 for the Hospice!

London Marathon 2024

We had some wonderful local people who used their London Marathon places to raise funds for the Hospice. After months of training they took on the race through London, pushing themselves to the limit and crossing the finish line in incredible times. Collectively they have raised over £5,600 for the Hospice which is amazing!

Bluebell Open Garden and Walk

The amazing people of the village of Steventon came together again this year to host their annual Bluebell Open Garden and Walk. Despite the weather being miserable, they still had around 150 people come out to see the beautiful bluebells and enjoy a cup of tea and a bit of cake. A huge thank you to all the people that make this wonderful event happen every year!

Basingstoke Hospital Cardiology Department Bake Sale

The team in the Cardiology department at Basingstoke Hospital recently held a bake sale to raise funds for St. Michael’s Hospice in memory of two of their colleagues who recently used the Hospice services. It was a very popular stall with a lot of delicious cakes, treats and a good raffle, and they raised an incredible £460 for the Hospice.

Manchester, Brighton and Paris Marathons

We have had lots of amazing supporters take on Marathon challenges for us in April. Supporters took on the Manchester, Brighton and Paris Marathons and generously chose to raise money for us alongside this incredible journey. Not only did they give their all to their training, they also went above and beyond with their fundraising, raising an incredible £4,700 collectively for the Hospice!

We are incredibly grateful to the charitable organisations who have provided us with grants to undertake critical services and projects. The Gerald Micklem Charitable Trust and The Michael Cornish Charitable Trust have provided us with grant support towards our MND service for FY24-25, and we cannot express our thanks enough.

We are also thankful for the trusts and foundations that have helped us provide essential hospice care. The generosity of the Brighter Life Community Programme, Legge Family Fund and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Community Foundation, and The Ardwick Trust is a testament to the generous spirit of charitable organisations that are helping us cover the funding requirement for this year.
