From reindeer runs to cricket fields, July was a month filled with plenty of outdoor activities and meaningful moments with our supporters.
Our top July moment...
Our wonderful community team at St. Michael's Hospice went out with volunteers to spread the festive joy and delivered Reindeer Invites to Schools. Lots of fun was had!
Community Fundraising
On July 9, Bishopswood Golf Club COTY hosted Bishfest in aid of us! We are thankful for their generosity.
On July 12, Hampshire Harmony Summer Concert took place. What a lovely way to have fun in the summer sun, we thank them for their dedication!
On July 12, a Cricket Testimonial in Memory of Chris Swift raised £1,192.88. What a meaningful way to celebrate a loved one whilst supporting the hospice.
On July 31 and August 1, the Tesco collection raised £1,557.07, thanks to our brilliant volunteers for taking the time to support us with these collections.
I enjoy volunteering with the fundraising team because I get to meet so many different people and hear about their own connections with St Michael’s and what the Hospice has meant to them or their families, whilst raising essential funds for the Hospice.
Alongside fundraising, I also volunteer as a driver, so I get to support the Hospice in two quite different ways. I really enjoy both roles and get a lot of personal satisfaction from knowing that, in a small but practical way, I’m helping to support a local service that is essential to so many people in our community.

Corporate fundraising
On July 10, we had corporate volunteers from Kier, Nomios, Castle Trust & Unum at the Kilo sale. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm as always!

On July 10, Plumb Base had their Charity day in aid of us. We simply couldn't do it without our amazing supporters.
On July 10, St. Michael’s Hospice held their Summer Memories Drinks Reception at Worting House. Businesses that support the hospice in a number of ways were invited to preview the Summer Memories Meadow ahead of the remembrance event on Sunday 12th July. A pleasant evening of networking was had in a stunning setting. Thank you to Worting House for hosting us and to 79North for donating the drinks.
On July 16, HSBC had their John Wilkinson Memorial Trophy Touch Rugby tournament in memory of one of their beloved colleagues. They have held this tournament since 2019 as John was cared for by St. Michael’s Hospice. 10 teams took park with Wilson Partners winning the esteemed trophy. Thank you to Josh White for organising this year after year and to John’s family for supporting the event. We are proud to share that £3,000 was raised on the day!
On July 23, Marco Polo Hair Salon held a music night at the Basingstoke Conservative Club, both supporters of the hospice. There was a local live band The Forgotten Army, DJ and a prize raffle. Karen and her team raised an amazing £3,100 on the evening.
On July 30, Clarke & Son Golf day at Test Valley Golf club, where 72 golfers teed off in support of the hospice. The wheelbarrow of wine was very popular and very nearly overflowed! The raffle and wheelbarrow of wine alone raised £1,850 on the day, a final total to be revealed soon.
