Newsletter Summer 2020

Welcome from our CEO

How the world has changed since I last wrote to you back in January.  No one could ever have predicted how this year would unfold but I am very pleased to report that our vital care for patients and families has remained resolute throughout.

During the pandemic we made changes to our services to ensure patient care was unaffected and some of the changes, especially in our Hospice at Home Team, enabled us to see even more people in need benefit from our compassionate and understanding support in their homes. What we have learned from dealing with COVID-19 will define many of our services in the future.

The effect on charitable funding has been widely publicised over the last six months and unfortunately the Hospice has not escaped that.  Our income from fundraising and retail has dropped by over 40% this year, in excess of £1m, meaning we need your support more than ever.  I fully appreciate these are really tough times for everyone but the need for hospice care does not stop, so whatever way you can help will be most gratefully appreciated.

Thank you for everything you continue to do, we cannot operate the Hospice without you.  I look forward to seeing many of you again in brighter times and wish that you and your family stay safe and healthy.
