Payroll Giving
Charity begins at work!
This is a simple and tax efficient form of giving directly from your salary.
With payroll giving, your donation comes out of your salary or pay packet before the tax is removed. This means that should you choose to give £10 to St. Michael’s Hospice, the amount you actually pay is just under £8. If you're in a higher tax bracket, your £10 donation costs you just £6. Based on a basic rate tax payer here are some examples of what would be deducted from your salary and what the Hospice would receive:
- £5 per month, at a cost to me of £3.90
- £10 per month, at a cost to me of £7.80
- £20 per month, at a cost to me of £15.60
- £50 per month, at a cost to me of £39.00
- £100 per month, at a cost to me of £78
How to get started - All you need to do is authorise your payroll giving department at work to take your gift out of your monthly salary. You can start donating almost straight away by downloading our simple payroll giving form today.
If your company doesn’t operate a payroll giving scheme why not encourage them to start one up? Or alternatively you could regularly give to the Hospice via a standing order from your bank
