New Chief Executive for St. Michael’s

David Monkman Joins the Team

St. Michael’s Hospice is delighted to announce that David Monkman has joined the Hospice team as Chief Executive (pictured below with Maria Miller MP).  David has extensive executive level experience in nursing, governance and general management in the health care sector.

David will be leading the Hospice team and working on a new strategy to ensure that St. Michael’s remains at the forefront of Hospice care and builds on the achievements of previous years.

This new appointment comes as St. Michael’s is also busy working on other exciting changes following the award of a Department of Health grant in April to upgrade many patient facilities, build a labyrinth and create a sensory garden in the Hospice grounds.

David joins from Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) in Putney where he was Executive Director of Clinical Governance, and Chief Nurse for nine years.  In his previous roles David has held positions as Director of Clinical Services at the Queen Victoria NHS Trust, General Manager and Director of Nursing at the Bradford Hospitals NHS Trust, and General Manager and Director of Nursing at Grimsby District Hospital.  David is a senior lecturer in Health Studies at St. George’s Medical School, and a past National Council Member of the NHS Confederation, and currently a member of the Department of Health, Chief Nurse’s Independent Sector Steering Group.
