St. Michael's Hospice shops receive national recognition
St. Michael's Hospice Retail Company is delighted to have received national recognition once more for its performance. In the 2009 Charity Shops Survey they were awarded 2nd place in the ‘Highest profit per week 1-10 shop category’ this is a fantastic achievement to receive such national recognition, especially as St. Michael’s has improved on its 3rd place in 2008.
Iain Cameron, Retail Operations Manager said “ I am delighted with this award as it demonstrates that our Retail Company is continuing to improve, not only that, it shows we are very successful in delivering our aim to provide as much funding for the Hospice as we can. The management teams and our volunteers work so hard and are really committed to the individual stores, this is their award and they should feel especially proud.”
St. Michael’s Hospice has seven high street shops across North Hampshire all stocking a wide range of clothing, household items, knitting wool and books. Every person who donates or buys items from the shop helps to raise valuable funds to enable the Hospice to continue providing excellent services to patients and their families.
This year retail income continues to increase and the Hospice hopes to raise over £1m through its shops, eBay and recycling initiatives with profit to the Hospice of around £450,000. This is a great achievement and help towards the annual running costs of the Hospice which currently stand at £2.3 million.
The Charity Shops Survey is produced by Charity Finance in association with Professional Fundraising, the annual research looks at trends in shops management and covers very nearly the whole of the UK charity shop sector, representing almost 100 organisations, with more than 5,000 shops and annual turnover in excess of £526 million.
