In-Patient Care
Patients are referred to the In-Patient Unit for symptom control, rehabilitation, respite care and terminal care. Care is provided by a multi-disciplinary team, which includes nurses, doctors, therapists and other allied professionals. A holistic approach to care ensures we focus not only on the physical but also on the emotional and spiritual support required during difficult times.
Of our ten beds, the majority are single en suite rooms with some double to allow flexibility if family wish to stay. Additionally, we have a lounge, conservatory, garden and a playroom. Our own housekeeping and catering team promote a homelike environment and volunteers work alongside staff, enhancing many aspects of Hospice care.
Admission to the Hospice can be a worrying time for both patients and their families so there is always experienced staff available to discuss concerns of any nature.
St. Michael's Hospice is not a long stay facility and help is available to address and plan for future care needs.
Referral to the In-Patient Unit is via a healthcare professional - GP, Hospital Doctor, District or Specialist Nurse.
