About St. Michael's Hospice
Our Mission Statement
St. Michael's Hospice (North Hampshire) helps people faced with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers by providing a choice of specialist care and support to enable them to attain the highest possible quality of life.
The Area We Cover
We are based in Basingstoke but serve the whole of North Hampshire, around 45% of patient admissions come from outside of Basingstoke.
We provide care for patients with illnesses where cure is not possible and we work with them to ensure they can achieve the best possible quality of life for the time they have left. The majority of our patients have cancer but we also care for those with other chronic life-limiting illnesses.
Our services are geared to providing for adults who have complex needs. Around 12% of patients admitted are under 50 years old and 42% under the age of 65.
We care for patients both in the Hospice and out in the community. As the majority of patients want to stay at home for as long as possible our Hospice at Home Service works closely with professionals in the community to support patients and provide them with a real choice about where they wish to be cared for.
Family support is also a significant and expanding part of our work.
